when i set my mind to something i pretty much always get what i want. except for when it comes to dudes, and now, apparently, FINDING A CAREER

hey kara, i'm going through the same thing. i'm not sure exactly what field you're looking in, but if it's art-related, even more than most industries, it's a terrible terrible time. endowment is down at all the nonprofits, so they can't hire anyone; most places even have hiring freezes/staff cuts. it sucks. don't take it personally that you're having a hard time-- all of the smartest people i know from the graduating class at davidson last year still haven't found jobs. network the hell out of everything (i'll add you on linkedin! i only have one friend). i'm planning on waiting tables for a year or so and trying to get an in at a museum or gallery through schmoozing in the mean time. good luck!!!
also sorry i accused you of cruelly laughing at me, i didn't mean nurthin' by it
i second the post above. i did internships at the mccoll center and joie lassiter gallery during college and even then they were starting to have economic troubles (this was in 06-07)! on top of that charlotte is just not a huge art city, so finding arts jobs is ridiculous right now. i wish i could offer some kind of advice or something but i am pretty much in the same boat which is why i am just trying to get the hell out/go to grad school. :[
