Breezewood Pennsylvania: subject of a special story on Bloomberg. The photographer had to work hard for this impression, but I wouldn’t take the “representative” idea seriously.
That's exactly how I fisked it back in the day, with help from satellite imagery and street view, and the fact that telephoto lenses compress depth. I wish I could find that rebuttal, because it included an aerial view of the street with the length/depth measured off.
Since I live in Wyoming now, it's blindingly obvious that most of America doesn't look like this. I have to drive two hours just to get to an interstate.
