Why do you think it is that whine is spelt with that silent "h"?

O.E.hwinsian "to whine" (of dogs), ultimately of imitative origin. Meaning "to complain in a feeble way" is first recorded 1530. The noun is from 1633.

I dunno, I personally like the letter Q, I mean just look at it, it's like an O, but with it's tongue sticking out...it's just so sassy.
