Yep, we got hit pretty hard in Portland too. Did you see our 15 car pile up on all the news channels. Most popular video LOL. Crazy people platying bumper cars. And the 4 wheel drives thought their brakes were better than everyone else's...NOT as seen on live video. LOL. The best and last was when a patrol car went to assist and close down the street finally and slid into the mess and a couple of cars as well. Haha. But raining now and going, going gone. Whew!!! Have a good friend in Spokane, her car is totaled. Snow and cars just don't work well especially with that layered of ice. Kinda like bowling out ther only with cars and man people watch out as you could so be pins as pedestrians. :) Stay warm, Deb
Until today the street in front of my house had been completely impassible for cars. All last week people have been sledding down my block. The sledders would drive up to the top of the street and park by our driveway, and then *whoooooosh*! Kind of amusing to watch from the front window.
My god, that's horrible. I'm glad you're staying inside! I love snow as much as the next, but that is really a dangerous looking hill. Wow.
Reminds me of the 110 steps that go from my dorm at school to where the classes are. When they ice over, it's impossible to get to class. I've seen people fall down nearly forty steps! Those are days I stay inside and pretend to be "sick".
I hope the weather gets better there! Personally, I'd kill for some snow...
it finally warmed up enough to rain so the snow is gone now. I am glad that this is not the hill *I* live on. My hill is about as high, but no where near as steep. It about halfway between the hill I was on when I took this shot, and the one you can see all of in the picture. So not as horrible as this road, but bad enough that I stay home when the roads turn to ice.
depends on how much air you caught really. Too much air and you would be free falling. No air and you would be slowed down a LOT by the trees that are hidden by the street a block down.
What is difficult to discern in this photo is that the street you can see going forward to the horizon line is actually going up *another* hill.
oh, the part of the road that has bits of blue on either side of it is a bridge, so if you were *really* unlucking you would fall into the ship canal. ;)
