Lee Hyori/Bohyung (SPICA), PG-13, 615 words
Vampire AU, for
post two.
From her seat at the edge of the tent, Hyori watches the girl pass. She keeps her head down as she walks, wheeling a bike along the sidewalk, dodging pedestrians. She's dressed in workout gear- Hyori can smell the sweat on her skin from meters away and it gives her pause. She smells sweet.
"Ah, found your target then?" Chunhee teases, reaching forward to steal a chicken foot from Hyori's plate while she's distracted. She notices- of course she notices, vampire reflexes aren't only good for attacking- but she lets him take it, her mind otherwise preoccupied.
"She smells ripe," Hyekyung adds. She pushes the last shot of soju across the table to Hyori, grinning wide enough to reveal the pointed tips of her fangs. "All that young blood."
Hyori knocks back the shot with ease. Pros of vampirism: soju goes down like water. Cons: it takes about a dozen shots to feel any effect, but Hyori can get her buzz elsewhere these days. She tosses down a few bills for her tab, and then pushes off the bench, slipping easily into the night.
She follows the smell, sticky sweet like the juice dripping from the first bite of an apple and just as tempting to catch with the tip of her tongue. The crowd thins and Hyori sticks to the shadows, light on her feet, holding back until she spots a good opening for her move. They reach a deserted impasse and Hyori steps forward, deliberately scuffing the heel of her boot against the pavement to make her presence known.
The girl turns. She's got a sweet face to match.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing out all by yourself this time of night?" Hyori asks. Lechery disguised as a kind unni.
"My chain broke while I was cycling the Han," the girl says. Her face flushes, blood rushing to the surface of her skin, that much closer to Hyori.
"Why don't you let unni take a look at that," Hyori offers, already crouching down to look despite the girl's oh no, no it's fine. Sure enough, the chain is broken, hanging loosely from the sprocket. She runs her finger along the cold metal frame of the bike until she reaches a spot where the paint has chipped away in the shape of childish, crudely keyed hangul.
"Bohyung?" Hyori asks, looking back at the girl, her eyes lingering on the line of her legs in running shorts, the jut of hipbone exposed by her top. Hyori pitches her voice lower, teasing. "Is that your name? Don't be shy."
"Kim Bohyung," she says, with a slight bow of her head.
Nice name for a nice girl. Hyori stands. She shakes the loose gravel from her hands. "Let me call you a cab, Bohyung," Hyori says.
Bohyung immediately shakes her head. "No, no it's not much farther from here. You don't have to do that."
Hyori steps forward until the toes of their shoes touch. Bohyung's nerves are palpable, but she holds her ground, even when Hyori brings her hand up to Bohyung's face. "I insist," Hyori says, and she pushes the stray hair that has slipped loose from Bohyung's ponytail back behind her ears. Her fingertips hesitate over under Bohyung's jaw. Energy thrums in her veins like a livewire.
"It's fine. Really," says Bohyung.
"Trust me," Hyori says, smiling as her human canines give way to fangs. Bohyung's realization is instant, but Hyori's grip on her jaw is faster. The sweetness of Bohyung's skin is dizzying as Hyori leans in, scraping her teeth across the surface, just enough pressure to prick a drop of blood. "You're going to need one when we're through here."

Hopefully next week I will actually manage to write for a post instead of just thinking about it for two weeks.
