I love "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" and "Lolita", I'll have to read some of those other ones.

I meant to say, thanks for the suggestions, but I hit submit instead! Oopsie. And I love The Arcade Fire. I saw them in concert over the summer, and they're stunning performers.

Hey. If you like those 2 (and who wouldn't really??), then I'm sure you'd like Waterland. Amazing book and somewhat less well known. Graham Swift hasn't done anything else worth much, but that book is so great. I'd imagine you'd like the Irving books, but maybe you know how you feel about him one way or the other. The Things They Carried is a remarkably well written set of interconnected short stories about the aftermath of Vietnam in soliders lives. That's probably the set I'd recommend most given the 2 you explicitly mentioned.
