As some of you are probably aware I've been sans hiking for a good long while now, due to family commitments. However, I managed to get away for a three-dayer last weekend and now I sit here, stiff and sore, but feeling great to have been out in the fresh air again. Some photos of the trip: -

Sounds like a fabulous weekend. Those photos are amazing; I especially like the tree closeup & the one against the sky!

They're probably my two favourites too. I just adore the texture of teh tree close up. I spent ages just admiring that one. One end of the tree was totally blackened, but I didn't manage to photograph the transition to any great affect, so thought the dead but unburned bit was best.

The terrain looks so much like where I used to live in Arizona. It looks beautiful, the tree against the cloudy sky is my favourite.

Good on you to have gotten out for a few days! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

A pleasure K. It was such a trat to get away after all this time. The kids are jsut about old enough to come along for a camping trip - Freya is, at least. Hope to do that in the Spring. (Our spring, of course ;)

I have to agree on the two favorite pictures. So happy you got some soul-renewal by getting out and enjoying some nature. The aches and pains will go away faster than the rejuvenation.

Yep, the aches and pains have gone. Though I admit that my knees took a battering this time around. I think I'll be walking with walking poles in future!

What beautiful country! And you look like an old pro there in all your backwoods gear - would never know it's been 10 years since you've hit the trail!

These are just great! Thanks for posting. I love this kind of stuff.

Thanks drocera. The old backwoods gear is really old now. The pack is now older than I was when I got it! I was thinking I would buy a new one, but it held up fine in the conditions (which were, I might add, remarkably good for this time of year) so I'll hold on to it for a bit longer I think.

It was great to post these pics, especially since you had posted so many that I had enjoyed. Glad I could reciprocate (finally!)

Take care,
solly
