Gunnery lesson

Apr 05, 2008 00:39

OOC: Sorry for the small delay, I meant to put this up somewhere last week. You know, after she just met Natsuki, flirted with her, and was the main reason for all the drama between Shizuru and Natsuki... ;) I don't know if Natsuki will be around, but yeah... Anyway, enjoy the gunnery lesson. Jungle time~"Good afternoon everyone," the soon-to-be ( Read more... )

Natsuki hung back from the rest of the class, listening to Ralph talk to the class. She had to hand it to her she would be a good teacher.

Natsuki frowned slightly as she spoke of a jungle until the surroundings started to change and she found herself in an actual jungle. As most of the class went off Natsuki slowly made her way over to Ralph, she needed to apologise for herself and Shizuru and she had to admit she was curious about the gunnery lessons.

"Hey" she said as she approached, "Thats a pretty neat trick"

"Pretty," Ralph said with a surprise smile when Natsuki addressed her. "Thank you. It takes a while to build something like this, but it's worth it, don't you think so?" She looked around proudly at her own created work before her attention went back to the girl.

"So you've decided to come to Gunnery? I must say that even this simulated sun shines much brighter when you are around. But I'm sure you came here because you have some questions. Anything I can help you with?"

"Well firstly I wanted to apologise for myself and Shizuru, I promise it's not always like that around us" Natsuki said, wanting to get that out of the way.

"But now I'm here I've gotta admit I'm intrigued, how does it work? The lessons I mean?" she added

"That's alright, Pretty," Ralph said, waving the apology away. She was well aware that she had been pushing things quite a bit during lunch. It didn't mean she was sorry, but in her opinion apologies were not really necessary.

"Ah, the lessons? Well, it's fairly simple. On these days, you will go through a simulation to experience how it's really like to work with a gun and how to be in a fight. You can choose your favourite gun, and you move stealthily around. The program will spawn targets for you to shoot. Though be careful, because they have minds on their own and they can attack you as well. You can get hurt for real in the simulation and if it's serious, I'll know and I'll transport you to safety. You can 'die' as well, though if that happens, the attacker will freeze and you get transported to another spot in the simulation. All your scores will be erased as well and you have to start all over again. Got it so far?"

Jessie stood toward the back of the class, able to look over many of her shorter classmates as she watched her roommate give the instructions for the lesson. This was perhaps the one and only class she truly liked attending. Perhaps it was because she could just blow some steam while shooting up targets or simulations. Perhaps it was because instead of a 'real' professor, it was one of her buddies who was in charge. Either way, Jessie didn't care. Sounded like more fun than pouring over some musty old Latin books, at any rate.

"Welcome to the Jungle, eh?" Jessie grinned as she started humming that particular tune to herself. She strolled over towards the weapons locker to arm herself for this lesson. The musical sounds stopped once she glanced over her shoulder towards her similarly-named friend. "Yo, Ralphie!" The taller blonde didn't bother with the formality of raising her hand. "Got anything...fun...in here I could borrow? Left my best piece out in that field a few weeks back."

Ralph gestured at the weapon rack behind her, where guns in all sorts and sizes were stacked up. "You know where you can find them," she replied back. "Use whatever you want, though I'd recommend a shotgun for this lesson. They're better suited for hunting. A machine gun might attract too much attention."

OOC: At least... I think a shotgun was often used in hunting... XD *no gun expert*

"Eh, guess shotguns can be fun. Real up-close-and-personal, you wanna get like that." She grinned as her fingertips trailed across several prospective weapons until she found a pump-action, sawed-off shotgun much to her liking. "A pal of mine used ta keep one of these in the trunk of her Shelby. You know, just in case."

Holding the weapon by the barrel she cocked it with one hand with an audible click-click. The other reached for a bandoleer and threw it over one shoulder, just as much to look thoroughly badass as much as to have plenty of shells on hand should she grow a little trigger happy. "Let's rock," she said with a cocky smirk as she headed out into the wilderness.

Katelyn stood off to one side, nervously clutching onto a small pistol as if it were a toy pop-gun. She wanted to overcome her fears, and she wanted to support her good friend in her attempt to become a teacher. But she still felt horribly out of place, much unlike the other students surrounding her ( ... )

"Just know that the animals here are not like normal animals and that there are still guys waiting out there with guns," Ralph sighed as she watched Katelyn leave. But then a smile appeared on her face. This was about the first time she'd seen Kate at ease during the Gunnery lessons. She just hoped that feeling would stay and that Katelyn would feel more and more at home during these lessons.

Ralph's words of wisdom were not heeded as the younger girl rushed into the dense foliage. She moved swiftly, never slipping on the first rock or tripping over the first root as if such undergrowth did not bother her at all.

Kate knew nothing of guns, or much about tactics. But she did know what had worked for her while hunting her prey in this kind of an environment. Most of the beasts would walk upon the earth, and few humans would ever think to look above them in the canopy of the rainforest. With a mighty leap Kateln sprang forward, reaching out for a vine and swinging up into the branches of a large tree. From here it would be easy to stalk her targets unseen.
