In the case of the villagers in the book? It's the only home they knew. And moving probably wasn't an option.

Name's Derek Bliss. You?

Xander, Xander Harris.

Nice to meetcha.

So, what I was going to say was that I remember when I first learned Buffy was the Slayer, and that there were vampires running around. There was this moment where it just hit me--everything made sense. How creepy my town was and stuff.

Can you think of a BETTER time? Because I think the fact that a guy like me helps save lives with them is pretty darn impressive.

Oh. I read that once. It's, um. Very influential, or so I've heard. I didn't really enjoy it all that much.

Was it across the street from a graveyard?

Was what across the street from a graveyard? 'Cuz when you really think about it, everywhere's a graveyard, kinda.

If you're gonna think like that, nowhere's safe at all! [ D8 ] Especially places between asylums and big creepy houses.

Graveyards are only dangerous when there's vampires hatching out of them. Otherwise they're just big fields full of bones and ashes.

...

Okay, they're always creepy, I'll give you that.

It's a really long book about a vampire. You can borrow it when I'm done, if you want.

It's sort of a classic, I guess. It's not too bad.

You don't know what vampires are?
