I still remember the day in November of 2000 when the Yankees signed Mike Mussina. I conceded the division in 2001 to New York that day. They landed the biggest free agent pitcher at the time and they made a team that was better than the Sox in 2000 another step bigger. Less than a month later a coworker told me that the Red Sox were going to sign ( Read more... )

I agree

what the hell happened? one minute we were like "ah, it's just manny being manny"

and then this year it's like we drove it up a notch.
it's like the 'ha ha ha, he's so crazy' went to "this is ridiculous, this guy has got to go."

I would've been ok with him staying, he always 'asks to be traded' and then he always recants.

I hope Jason Bay can deal with playing in Boston.

And yes, we gave up quite a bit in this deal.
Too much IMHO..

He's been a bit overboard this year. From knocking over traveling secretaries to his assenine comments recently, he did have to go. But yeah, that was too much. If Bay handles Boston though...well I guess it'll work out.

Nomar's heading to the DL for the third time this year! So Manny will be on his own.

It's a pretty big deal. He's been like part of our family for the last 8 years!

I'm a Manny fan but this year has really pushed things as far as they could go. They didn't get very much in this deal but Jason Bay is better than the nothing they would have gotten if they just declined Manny's option and let him go to free agency.

This whole thing really reminds me of the Nomar trade back in 04. Maybe we'll get lucky and see similar results.

Yeah, it probably works out better for next year. We would've got two draft picks for him leaving and we wouldn't have had to give up Hansen and Moss, but at least next year there won't be a hole in the middle of the lineup.

My thoughts exactly. And if for some reason, Bay doesn't really work out, there are always other options out there.

I'm definitely surprised about the deal.....

But I can't say I'm upset. Finally Mike Mussina can have a little peace of mind knowing he won't get tattooed when he faces Boston since the crazy man who so had is number is gone.

I'm still lukewarm on the Farnsworth for Pudge deal.....

Bay is pretty mediocre in interleague play and hasn't done much against the Yankees....let's just hope it's because of a small sample size!

I think that deal will work out ok for the Yankees. Farnsworth has been hot lately, but he's still Farnsworth. And Rodriguez isn't the same guy he was 10 years ago, but he's a step up over Chad Moeller
