Today has not been a good day. I have been in so much pain the last few days from the cramps caused by my endometriosis. I couldnt get in touch with my dr. yesterday and finally did today. Well, my wonderful dr. told his nurse to tell me that i could either deal with the pain or take the lupron shot (those of you who knew me when i took the deppo ( Read more... )

I really wish I could recommend a decent doctor in the area...I can only hope that you find one soon. Sounds like your current one is a sulky asshole.

thanks, it sucks. it kills me that he wouldnt even prescribe me a non-narcotic pain pill that i was on for years. exspecailly when i called his office crying because of the pain. like i said, he just doesnt understand the pain, he doesnt have a uterus so i cant really hold that against him. i stayed with him as long as i did because he was a good surgeon. he did an excellent job on my surgery, it just wasnt enough though. but he is being rather sulky.

Excuse me if I sound uneducated... zarkarella September 11 2007, 21:27:52 UTC
Who had you been seeing? Spruill? I would be surprised if he wasn't at least listening to you. How about that other guy that was working with Spruill but I don't think is anymore... don't remember his name. It might not be a bad plan to see someone in Bham, there are not enough pain doctors in Tuscaloosa and they probably all talk to each other.

Or is this an OB problem? I like my OB at West Al OBGYN. But they are tough to get in with.

no this was my actual ob/gyn dr. poist. my sister in law goes over to dr allen at west al obgyn. she likes him but i dont think he is taking new patients. my mom has a number of an endometriosis specialist in bham im going to call tomorrow. her friend that has the same problem got in quite quickly with him. i dont think our insurance covers this guy, but im kinda running out of options and i just cant do the whole medically induce menopause crap again. i guess i could take the route of seeing an actual pain dr. but like you said, theres not many in tuscaloosa and i dont think spruill could help, he deals mainly with back stuff. and like you said, he doesnt always listen...to anyone. :)

Dr. Poist kinda sucks--Dr. Partlow took me seriously and checked me for endo when I complained of mysterious pain. He was great.

Yea, like i said, dr poist is a good surgeon and im glad he did my endo surgery, but it had limited results and he had the one way he wanted to deal with it and i just cant risk it. bleh. i might call dr. partlow, i dont know if i wanna go to another dr in the same office though, its petty of me, but ya know. I just hate the men ob/gyns who refuse to even try and understand the pain (and not all of them do, i had one guy who was great, of course his wife and daughter both had endo) this whole thing just solidifies in my mind that men going into the ob/gyn field should have to take hormone supplements for at least 6 months before getting their license. /rant off

anyways, hows everything up there?
