The voice was neutral. All the same Helen felt a prickle of wariness. This clone had been her personal companion for some weeks and had not shown any signs of rebellion or independent thought but that did not mean that they were not there.
“Why is that a problem?”
The clone hesitated. “It’s…wasteful,” he said, at last.
He looked uneasy. Helen felt a brief regret. This one had quickly learned how to please her, but there were others, equally trainable. She kissed him lightly on the lips. Such sweet sorrow.
“Kill him. And then yourself.”
