Title: Absence of Light

AN: AU Becker/Connor Regency romance of many clichés and unlikely shenanigans. Becker and Lester are hot on the trail of Leek. Connor has been found by Jenny and Ryan. Last week here. Continues chronologically from here.

AN2: OK, so he wasn’t dead! Angst ahoy.

“No wonder you’re megrimmed lying there in the dark!” The woman pulled the curtains open with a flourish. “See, Connor, everything looks better in sunshine.”

Connor didn’t ask how she knew his name. She never requested information. Perhaps he had talked when he was ill.

“Sit up now, there’s soup for lunch.”

Connor was silent. He didn’t want daylight. And he didn’t want soup. And he didn’t want to be in this bed wearing a stranger’s nightshirt. However, he said nothing because speaking would have meant accepting he was alive. And that was one more thing he really didn’t want.
