AN: AU Becker/Connor Regency romance of many clichés and unlikely shenanigans. Connor has found a refuge with Jenny and Ryan ( here). Becker and Lester have caught up with Leek. Continues from here.

The names and dates meant nothing to Becker but he could tell they did to Leek who went from red to yellow to a sickly white as Lester continued speaking, still in that soft, almost kindly, voice.

“A hanging’s an ugly thing, Oliver. Imagine crowds thick as autumn leaves and hot with lust to see a man executed for treason. But I don’t need to see you dance. Or your body despoiled. You can still save something for your family.”

Leek’s pistol lay on the table. Lester pushed it towards him.

“I think you know what you have to do.”
