The field team was back. Hours late, but all seemingly unharmed.

Jess eyed her last mocha truffle. Soon, she told herself. First she needed to check the surveillance cameras.

There was Connor tapping his phone on his way to the lab. Check. Jess flicked to Abby running towards the menagerie. Again, good. Becker was in the armoury oiling guns. Jess lingered on this scene. Emily and Matt had made for the showers. As expected. They both had a thing about unlimited hot water. Finally, she clicked on Lester contemplating the espresso machine.

All was well.

Jess reached for the chocolate.
