indie = the new mainstream
i listen to some indiie, but it comes from a genuine place. that said, i agree with you. what happened to having your own original taste? thank you, im glad theres another person out there who understands what music is.

I agree with you and i'm glad you brought it up. I think people would expand what they listen to so much if they didn't know who it was by or who else listened to it. I like a mix of everything, both more alternative music or bands that a lot of people haven't heard of and the radio and pop music. I have music for every mood or personality. I know people who get overly protective of the music they listen to or think that their music is better. But like you said music is music and maybe it does reflect part of who you are, but it shouldn't limit you or be limited by what everyone thinks.

And at the same time it's limiting who you can be friends with, based on whether or not other people listen to the same music.

Getting rid of music snobbyness would be one step towards a happier world.

I ALMOST read the whole thing, but I stopped cuz I know what you mean exactly. Music is music. When I was making stupid posts in the add me communities, I always say I just listen to everything and that I could care less what other you listen to. The only times I care what other people are listening to iiiis if there is an ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE song on that I can't stand to listen to. :]

People put music into stereotypes, ya know?!
Like blacks listen to hip hop/rap/r&b
Whites listen to country & pop
Mexicans listen to hispanic music
and other races listen to their own countries music.
I am black and spanish and I listen to EVERYTHING. [minus the other countries music] That doesn't change me as a person or anything. When people meet me they think I'm all about rap, but when I come home I'm listening to country & pop and when I'm at my boyfriends we listen to techno and rock/metal[Guitar Hero lol]

Yeah, I know exactly how that is. I'm the black girl that acts white who dates white boys only. So people are always fascinated and interested in me cuz I'm different than the ordinary stereotype for someone who looks like me.

lol, around here it's the whites to listen to hip hop and rap. it's REALLY trendy and completely artificial. They hired this rap group to perform at our prom, and basically I think that's the big mistake they made that caused prom to end an hour and a half early... people couldn't dance to the music! Everyone just got really close to the stage and waved one hand up and down like they were worshipping. It's tiring and mind numbing. But anyway, yeah... you're totally right about people's taste in music boxing them into stereotypes.

hahaha i love your blog, very powerful. and i'd like to admit to everyone.. i listen to Hanna Montana.

i swear, its so weird how people think just because i listen to alternative and acoustic, that i don't listen to bay slaps. and they all freak out when i start singing along. geez.

RUBIKS CUBE!! hahahah, man I think I solved it on accident because now I can only go up to step 6 out of 7 steps. sucks, but I've got to admit, i'm getting faster at the steps I do know and I don't have to use the booklet as much.

ps, the booklet doesn't provide answers, well sorta, its more like hints.
