That is indeed scary. And depressing as hell to think that surviving an often fatal cancer would be a less than 100% cause for celebration.

It is, and it illustrates quite clearly why health care reform is so very important nowadays. What's her options? Well, she can *try* to keep up with her escalating health conditions, or...she can just ignore it. Ugh.

Particularly depressing that most or all of the rest of health conditions have a much better prognosis than her initial cancer did, if only she could afford the treatments. Despite having pretty decent health care insurance myself, universal health care is the thing I miss most about living in Canada.
