I am sooo excited!! Today I ordered a new five-string black carbon-fiber cello from Luis & Clark Instruments. (You can see a picture of it in the userpic for this entry.) L&C's cellos sound great (as good or better than a comparably-priced wooden cello) and, except for the wooden bridge, they are virtually impervious to moisture/rain. They are also ( Read more... )

That looks like a *nice* instrument: if it plays as nicely, that's going to be an impressive instrument!

Oh, and there are 2,419,200 seconds in four weeks. Just sayin'. ;)

That rocks! It'll be interesting to see how it works in a whole band setting...

Hmmm... it should work reasonably well -- the pickup I plan to install on it (a David Gage piezo pickup) has great sound quality and isn't supposed to have feedback issues. But, at this point I'm inclined to keep playing my electric "stealthcello" with Gaia Consort. I was thinking of the carbon-fiber cello more for acoustic-type gigs and festivals -- and for playing 'round the campfire, where my poor electric would be completely useless.

However, once I actually get my hands on this gorgeous curvy iridescent black creature, I may be unable to put it down (I've been warned about this by other cellists). If this happens, then failing surgical intervention, I might have to play it with Gaia Consort. :-)

Hmmm.... no, I haven't read those yet. In fact, I was just starting to look for some new reading material... is there one in particular should I start with? (Brain candy - yum!)
