I got fat. Then I did something about it.

When I left the military on 05 March 1999, I was working out everyday. I weighed 230lbs, my "fight weight".

I stopped working out, and packed on twenty pounds in six weeks. Over the course of the next few years, I slowly ballooned up to 282lbs as of Spring 2005.

During the Summer 2005 I started working out again. I now weigh 242lbs. I also pumped out a personal best this morning:Bench Press:
Four (4) Reps: 285lbs.
Five (5) Reps: 275lbs.
Six (6) Reps: 265lbs.
I lift every other day. On off days, I usually swim. It's an effort for me as I am more bulky and dense than average.

I am dense. 8P

The weight room has large windows overlooking an Olympic-sized pool. I watched a good swimmer in the pool last week between my sets. She was long and lean, hydrodynamic even, and swam the length of the pool in just eight strokes. Another man I saw can swim this length in nine strokes. It takes me 24 stokes.

That lady is three times more efficient in the water than I am. I am not built for speed. 8P

I'm burning fat. Now I carry some extra skin (hopefully soon to be reabsorbed). Everyone at the gym has been really nice to me.

I feel good, too.
