Perhaps the clip from TNG happens a couple months before the time in Generations?

Well, the problem is, at the beginning of Generations, Kirk, Scotty and Chekov are invited to the first voyage of the Enterprise 1701-B. During this time, the ship is hit by a blast of energy from the Nexus while they're trying to save people on a ship. This just happens to destroy the section of the ship where Kirk is standing, and everyone, including Scotty, assume he's dead.

Now, in that episode of TNG, Scotty has been trapped in the transporter for 75 years. This means the accident that forces him to go inside the transporter must've taken place after the incident on the Enterprise B, since he's rescued by the crew of the Enterprise D.

I've thought of a couple possibilities. First, it wouldn't be the first time something has been retconned in Star Trek. However, when you think about it, he WAS in a transporter as a stream of data for 75 years, and he might've been like you: brain = goo and no thinky.

Either way, it's good to hear from you again! :D *hugs*
