The Electric Things Have Their Life Too*

I'm temporarily back (if anyone noticed my absence, that is) to post the art for paintedspires. The prompt is cyberpunk AU.

RL's a little rough right now (that I finished this on time is nothing short of a miracle. Really), but hopefully I'll be back soon. Without my happy place = fandom, I'm just extra grumpy. I miss you guys all. *hugs ( Read more... )

wow, that's really gorgeous. I love the translucent quality of their skin, that you can see the background through it.

That is just one of the most arrestingly beautiful things I've seen in a long, long time. I love the ambience of the colors, the way the mist and steam become the silhouette of the city, and the way the mechanical details of the exposed components contrasts with the very, very human curve and luster of their skin. And my god, you've nailed the likeness on both of them so beautifully (neither being an easy guy to draw right, in my opinion), and the sheer intimacy of the moment, John's thumb on Rodney's shoulder and Rodney's thumb pressed against John's lips, their half-lidded eyes ...

It's just amazing, startling work. Probably one of the best pieces of fanart I've seen in five years and half a dozen fandoms, and one of the most gorgeous illustrations, sans any genre caveat, that I've seen in a long time. And I'm on the outskirts of a group of independent comic artists, so I get to see a lot of good illustrations. Just incredible, really.
