Ok, I hope you don't mind commentary from random stranger person.

It's a very cute drawing and I adore the look on his face.

There's just 2 things, and please bear in mind that I know next to nothing about drawing and am most likely wildly off. I'm in awe of your prowess and couldn't produce something like this in a million years.
His body looks like either his jacket is a size or two too big for him or he's a couple of pounds heavier than on the show. And somehow he looks ten years younger and a lot more vulnerable. Might be that his face is a tad too round and maybe his eyes are a smidgen to big for the face.

This is interesting, because it's definitely Rodney, but a very young one. I can't pinpoint why, but there's something about the spacing of his facial features* that does it for me.

The reason it's interesting to me is that this is exactly how the young Rodney in my head looks. I can't imagine a young Rodney who looks anything like a young Hewlett, but this is him.

*On second thought, and comparing it to the icons here, I think his eyes are too far apart.

Thank you for letting me know what you think. I totally admit he looks younger. Actually it's almost inevitable for me, because I'm not sure I'll ever be able to draw major character on the show and make her/him look like their own age. It's very interesting that you mentioned the distance between his eyes is too far, because I know I have a bad habit of drawing them too far away, and I actually redrew it to make it shorter in this particular picture. Maybe it wasn't enough. *g*

I'm taking that as a huge compliment. I'm thrilled.

Very nice! Love the shading, especially on his face :)

Some very minor crit: seconding rikki_tiki_tavi - the proportions of his head and body are slightly off. I'm pretty lousy with human proportions myself, but I think the issue is with his left shoulder (camera-right, his left - the one with the flag): it appears to be facing the camera, but his arm and torso are 3/4 view, making the shoulder look too wide and the upper arm appear too short. His torso also looks a bit wide.

His right hand is a bit off, too: the thumb looks too long given the position of the fingers - this could be solved by either shortening the thumb, or rotating the hand slightly inward toward his body (showing more of the back of the hand to the camera).

Thank you!

His body was not supposed to be facing the front equally, my intention was his left portion of the body is a little more far away than the right portion from the plane of view. Say, about 10 degrees or so. And his left elbow was meant to be facing back, not side. I didn't think it appears to be in the same plane with his right portion, so thanks for letting me know the way it appears to you. And you are absolutely right about his right hand. :)

Awwwww, woobie!Rodney, so very very cute. It looks like he's tried to dial the gate but something's just not quite right (but at the beginning of that reaction, 'cause he gets progressively more wide-eyed as he worries more XD ( ... )

Awww, thank you! I love woobie!Rodney. His eye sizes are like indicator.

I didn't particularly use reference for this one, though I usually use references heavily. But I've been staring at dozens of woobie!Rodney screen caps before I drew it, so I'm pretty sure my subconscious probably picked something up from there.

Thank you for your lengthy and thoughtful feedback. I agree with you on the cuff of his jacket on his right side arm, I should've drawn a puff around it. His thumb on the left appears to be a bit long to me too; I wouldn't think DH has that long thumb, but I don't really know for sure, either. :) I drew this pretty quickly, and not with much thought, so I can see all the flaws in this one more clearly than usual, though I strangely like this one (well, at least for now). It was a great criticism and a very helpful one, especially more so that it's coming from you. Thanks again. XD

It's so rare for people to actually ask for contructive criticism. I know that if I ask for it, in general, I don't recieve it. I'll ask specific people for beta advice (more so now that I've become friends with a few artists rather then when I was just startig out), but more often than not, I know where the flaws are or where something isn't quite working out in a given picture I've posted, but I've just given up on fixing them XD (woe, for I am a lazy artist. so very very lazy)I think it's very admirable and courageous for you to put yourself out there like that. It shows that you're here to enjoy yourself and to improve. And that's completely awesome. Not like some artists I've met who ask for criticism but don't actually want to hear it.

For certain, if you ever have anything you wanted looked over, I'd be more than happy to help :)
You are so filled with cool.

I'm happily surprised by the feedback I've got, because I know it's hard to give. I know I would be hesitant to criticize someone else's art, since not only I'm bad at it, I also know that for people doing something that even remotely considered as creative work, it could be a very touchy subject. It was so awesome to receive it. And I admit that asking for criticism was more like the consequence of too much caffeine and nicotine, and it was like 3 in the morning. :) I also kind of ignore the problems a lot, rather than just fix it. Laziness is my nature. And sometimes it's just driving me crazy to look at it anymore. I am totally blushing at your compliment, and that was the sweetest offer. I'll keep that in mind. You are the one who filled with cool and awesomeness. Thank you so much! <3
