Someone please explain the human race to me. Sit me down, lock eyes with me, and just break down how people work. Because I TOTALLY don't fucking get it

i always at least say thank-you so people know i appreciate them/whatever kind gesture they made. i've noticed i don't always get it in return tho. it's something so simple, that doesn't require anything more than saying 2 words, so i don't understand why people don't automatically just say it.
maybe...possibly...the person who took the cooler needed it a lot more than the charity itself (like, maybe the person can't afford a fridge & that's the closest they could come to 1). i'm not saying it was right, but at least there's a positive side you can look at of it going to a good home.
I suppose so ... at least that's a relatively positive way to sort-of dilute myself and not feel so bad. I'm 99% sure it was just some college dropout trying to make his piece of shit apartment look less piece-of-shit-y.
Plus ... it's winter in Chicago ... the whole world is your fridge. :)
pretty much its the american way, to take whatever you can. i used to keep candy on my desk and people would literally walk by every 5 mins to talk candy, 5 pieces, each way and back. people are trained to take whatever and get "bargains" its crappy. im sorry people are jerks.
And I appreciate the "things are better that don't cost less" ... Hell, I just spent $100 on groceries when we were just going in for milk, because everything was at such a discounted price.
But I'm not STEALING the groceries. I'm not gonna take the cart home with me. I'm not going the lift a 20 from the drawer if the cashier looks away for a second. Because I know that's wrong. I'm just bothered that people seem to have less and less morality or concern for the overall impact of their actions. It's seen day-in and day-out everywhere ... from the guy who speeds down the entrance ramp and cuts back in, just so he can move up in traffic ... but he causes everyone else to slow down even more. Or the dude who shakes the vending machine so he can get the dangling bag of Fritos that he didn't have to buy. The "American way" is really just "Be as self-centered as possible."
i agree completely. people feel entitled, hey the fritos are just asking to be taken, the clerk wasnt looking and its only a few dollars it doesnt matter if i take the soda, etc. morals are gone. people dont give a fuck about right and wrong. its all about if im not gonna get caught then its okay, its only a crime if i get caught, etc.
That's the human way more than the American way, I think..and possibly worth noting that more people didn't steal the cooler than did....people are inherently nice...but assholes tend to make a bigger impact.
