I watch Red River tonight. It certainly shows its wrinkly age. It’s one of a great bunch of old westerns in which the characters don’t so much speak to each other as they think out loud so that we understand everything before and after it happens. i enjoy the flashbacks. they make me care about the characters. i want to know how locke was paralyzed and how hurley ended up in the institution (and why libby was there with him) [yes, i know someone died when a deck collapsed when he stepped on it, but why did he go crazy enough to be placed there]. i think it adds a diminsion to the show that's more than "hey, look at this crazy island ( ... )

I've written about his before in A's journal, but I too like the flashabcks. In a way they help make the show for me, give me an investment in the characters so to speak.

I am with Jack on this. I know you and I have discussed this in the past. I like the flashbacks, I want to know as much detail about the characters as possible.

One must remember though Burk, that I am much more detail oriented than you are in regards to how things came to where they are for each person. Call it the "historian" in me if you will, but I like the flashbacks.
