- CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Squall Leonhart
CODENAME: None at the moment, will probably be ‘Lionheart’ when he gets around to such things
SERIES/SOURCE: Final Fantasy VIII
AGE: 15
GENDER: Male
ROLE: Student

BACKGROUND: Squall’s earliest years were spent growing up in orphanage in Wisconsin. A quiet kid by nature, he largely kept to himself, save for a sort-of rivalry with one of the other boys in the orphanage (one Seifer Almasy) and an odd sort of dependence/friendship on one of the older girls in the orphanage, who he referred to only as ‘Big Sis’. Unfortunately for him, she was taken from the orphanage suddenly when Squall was about four. That night, hurting and alone, Squall decided that if letting people close only meant you got hurt, than he wouldn’t rely on letting people that close. Of course, he didn’t have the ability to put the decision in those words, but that was the general gist of it. After all, surely his ‘Big Sis’ would come back if he proved he could rely on himself.

Sadly, this didn’t come to be, at the age of eleven, his mutant ability first manifested. At first, he simply tried to ignore it, but in the end the truth came out and Squall was sent off to the Garden, a boarding school that was accepting of mutants. Not that this made him any more inclined to pay much attention to his new-found telepathy save, if possible, to only become that much more shut off, since knowing people’s thoughts made it dangerously easy to get close to people.

And so it was that time passed, with very little change in Squall’s life. His rivalry with Seifer had survived into the Garden, and over time his instance on distance had developed into him having a tendency to throw himself headlong into his schoolwork. When Xavier Institute finally reopened his doors, he rather grudgingly decided that it would be worth it to see something more than the Garden, largely at the insistence of the headmaster of the Garden, who was of the firm opinion it would do Squall some good.

There may have been some curiosity about Xavier’s on Squall’s part as well, but if there was it was quite firmly hidden.
PERSONALITY: To put things bluntly, Squall is not the social type. He doesn’t particularly like getting close to people, and is slow to truly trust people. After all, if he doesn’t allow himself that sort of personal connection than he doesn’t need to worry about being hurt ever again. The fact that he’s naturally inclined to be short-spoken at the best of times doesn’t really help either, especially when someone’s trying to get know him better. He does, however, tend to what could be called internal monologues, although you’d pretty much have to be a telepath to figure this out.

However, despite his tendencies to be stoic and taciturn at best he is a decent leader, although he needs to be quite literally pushed into the position, and once he’s been given something he sees as his ‘duty’ he won’t shirk from it and is often the first on to make sure that what needs to get done is being done.
APPEARANCE: Coming in at about 5’7”, with brown hair and light blue eyes, Squall isn’t exactly the sort to stand out in a crowd. Or at least, not on those facts alone. His jacket, on the other hand, might just do it - black leather with a furry white ruff.

Also of note are the scar that runs across the bridge of his nose (the mirror image of Seifer’s) and a necklace and a matching ring that bear a stylized lion’s-head, which he refers to as Griever.
POWERS: Squall is a telepath, plain and simple. He doesn’t particularly like it, and isn’t inclined to do a whole lot with it as of yet, but it’s there all the same.

ANYTHING ELSE?: As might be expected from someone with a tendency to throw themselves headlong into whatever they might be doing, Squall has more than a few things memorized that no sane person would. This is partly due to not really branching out in interests and partly due to the fact that well... you might never know when you need to know the natural habitats of a variety of plants. Or any of a variety of unrelated and equally trivial facts.

Also I will be bringing in his habit of internal monologue, since otherwise things would get boring very fast. They will be typed here as they are in canon (in parentheses with lighter text), if this proves to be too confusing in-game I’ll come up with another way to do them.

ooc, he might (not) be a lion, info
