The Butler did it in the pantry with a bottle of port and a hunk of roast beast

Poll The Butler did it....

So TV Land had a 48 hour Benson marathon on this weekend and I had forgotten that that was one of the TV shows besides the Muppet Show and Mork & Mindy that I liked and was allowed to watch as a kidlet. I was sick on Saturday and it was raining so I watched it until my husband made me stop, and we watched Jimmy Stewart as an amiable drunk in " ( Read more... )

I didn't watch Benson (though I could have) but I know what you mean about lack of immunity to TV gags and trite dialog. The shows my brother and I used to watch regularly! Ugh.

You can see the punch line almost before the setup is delivered. Oi.

Ah, but Benson is a spinoff from Soap and...who didn't love Soap?!

Gods, I'm old! *weepts*

I suppose Jeeves can't be considered a butler since he's more of a gentleman's gentleman. *shrug* Still, it would have been death deciding between my newfound adoration of Jeeves and my remembered fondness for Benson. :p

There is no way I could pit Jeeves against Benson! Maybe they can tag team someone else!

I love love love Jeeves.

As long as you don't do Jeeves vs. Wooster as my heart would cry.

Or OMG not Wooster vs. House! *weepts* It would BREAK ME!

Er...I'm easily broken but...*breaks!*

I love Wooster vs. House! hahahahahahahahaha

Jeeves would have to go up against someone really messy or maybe just some lint. Hahahahahahaha Jeeves vs. Paris Hilton!

Ah but technically, Tony is a housekeeper, not so much a Butler.

There's always Niles, from The Nanny, but who ever watched that show anyway?

I know. He was technically a "maid/housekeeper" but for my own purposes he is buttling!

Oh, and I forgot Geoffrey, from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He could probably give Benson a run for his money, but in the end, Tony is hotter and can open more jars :)

hee!

Oh, I've only seen Fresh Prince like twice. I didn't even think of it.

I think we've decided that Jeeves vs. Bunter would be the coolest most extreme Butler match off.

For reasons that I won't reveal in a public space, but which, trust me, were nonvoluntary and involved money changing hands, I have read all of the scripts of Who's the Boss. (Also Golden Girls.)

I so voted Benson.

My god! I have a whole new respect for your stamina and toughness. And I hope you were being paid a lot!
