I used my parents' place as a hotel last night on my drive from Ann Arbor to DC. My mom's a college professor and this morning I helped her grade freshman seminar papers. Oh my God. When I was TAing an intro to cognitive neuroscience class, I was asked during an exam to explain Roman numerals. On the one hand, I felt the girl should've known by her freshman year of college how they work. On the other, it wasn't exactly material IN the course, so it was kind of fair game.
