Had to register the cars again and Georgia has that stupid Ad Valorem tax thing.. you have to pay a certain percent of the value of the car in order to register the car. OMG, I can't believe how high y'all's car registrations are!

Here in Texas, it's based on the age and weight of the vehicle, I think. I pay something like $50 for my 2000 Honda. Sassy's and Chon's vehicles are about the same, since they're 2002 and 1997, respectively.

Do you have to register every year? Ours is an annual fee.

Do y'all have to have y'all's vehicles inspected, too? We have to do it every year, although it doesn't cost as much as registration, something around $15.

My car is actually due either registration or inspection at the end of the month. Ooops...

Yep, thats an every year renewal. Its renewed on the owners birthday and since both Will & I are September birthdays, they both come due. And its based on the value of the car. And since we both have relatively new cars, mine is a 2005 and Wills is a 2006 (both bought new) we are getting slammed. The first year we renewed after we bought the truck it was 800 just for the truck! And.. no one told us about that yearly fee when we moved here so it was a huge shock.

Thankfully we do not have to have the cars inspected. In NJ we had to have them done every year but it was free if you went to the State run Motor Vehicle inspection sites.
