So, apparently some guy at NASA gave a speech through Second Life. My boss has decided that if he can do it, there's no reason why we shouldn't create a web presence through SL as well

while I don't have any experience with SL, I think that quite possibly your boss has the worst ideas ever. What could they possibly gain from this?

I have yet to really understand what people do in Second Life.... I used it once cuz a conference I was at had a virtual Second Life room. It didn't really add much to the conference, except form of distraction. I mean it's kinda a cool concept - a freeform "metaverse" as in stephenson's snow crash. But... yeah... because there are no actual goals like in MMORPGs, not so sure what the point is... maybe people will come up with cool uses. or maybe there are some and I just don't know about them.
