Being sick sucks

After missing another day of work, I finally went to the doctor on Friday and found out that my 'cold' was actually bronchitis. He put me on some fairly heavy meds that I take every 12 hours. Biaxin, which is an antibiotic, I think. And Tussionex syrup, which is anti-cough. It actually works, thankfully, so I'm no longer feeling miserable ( Read more... )

I'd say drowsy's a mood, yeah. It was probably the antibiotic that made you ill yesterday, they often do that at first. It's just made of dead bacteria that make you sick when they're alive.

Hydrocodone is a wonderful cough suppressant. I found that out after my hernia surgery. The Vicodin pills did what no prescription cough syrup ever did-get rid of my chronic alergic bronchitis.

And yeah, antibiotics can upset your digestion. The intestines, in part, regulate their movements in response to the amount of bacteria in them. Change that balance by killing a bunch off with an antibiotic, and...

Hydrocodone's main side effect is bad constipation. Have some Milk of Magnesia ready, if the prescription is for a few days or more. But have some Kaopectate too (the kaolin/pectin kind, not the "advanced" loperamide formula), because most antibiotics usually cause diarrhea sooner or later.
