I've been employed with my company for as long as I've been a Furry (created my character on Furrymuck in December 1994, employed with current job since July 1995). I assumed IT administration functions in 1997, replaced the then y2k-infected MRP manufacturing system with a new one in 1999, wrote and rewrote hundreds of lines of code for reports ( Read more... )

Good luck out there! You're a very clever guy, I'm sure someone will snap up your skills. I know what you're feeling though, it's tough putting yourself out there and hoping for the best. :/

Egad. So you'd "only" been with them for a couple years when I was visiting and one or two of the nearby mountains decided to ignite? (Two years being a long time in my career - three positions have been about that long, others shorter. Hardly ideal, but companies and projects have gone bang, with nothing I could do but pack my bags. Very sad, as I've known some great projects and fantastically sharp, fun people through them, some of whom I'm fortunate enough to remain in contact with)

Where to look? I suppose I'm not well positioned to advise, really, as my US locale's been the Bay Area for a while now, where Craigslist is a positive trove of opportunities. I recall the San Diego and LA ones being usable, but not nearly as prolific. zrath might be able to offer some pointers, but other than that.. if the SCALF mailing list is still around and active, maybe somefur there can help too. Onci and Farallon, maybe, if you're still in touch with them ( ... )
