Trafficlight etiquette

Today more than ever I realized that drivers in Chicago think they are exempt from traffic light rules. A red light is not really a red light. When trying to turn left at an intersection everyone (including myself) tries to do the same thing--inch out until you block traffic so much you HAVE to turn left, even after the light is red. Actually, turning left on red after pulling into an intersection when the light was green is totally legal.

"If you enter an intersection while the light is green, you may finish your turn even though the light turns red. "

Hahaha I love that you actually looked that up. I think the problem occurs when multiple people try to turn when it's red.
