waiting for media to get warm

i'm really mad at harold right now. although i guess it's not really his fault that the tire keeps losing air. i think i'm more peeved that the honda people haven't done anything about it. because i've taken it there 2 times for the same leaky tire, only to have them tell me that there's no hole in the tire. how in the world does a freaking ( Read more... )

oh yeah... did i forget to mention that? *blushes... okay not really, but imagine stina being slightly embarrassed* anyway... harold is the honda pilot that my parents bought for me after my brother's car, bessie, broke down. my dad was driving bessie, and i was driving humphrey (the minivan, if you will recall), and when bessie broke down, my dad wanted humphrey back and therefore decided it was high time i had an actual car of my own. hubert remains in louisville with my brother, who couldn't afford gas to drive bessie, which is why bessie ended up first with me at centre, then with my dad when we realized bessie wouldn't fit in the parking garage here. =)

My damned kidney won't break down, it's very frustrating. Doc's back today and I'm hoping he can give me some miracle proteinase that will fix my predicament, but currently it seems I'm making no progress. I think I'm going to try for my MD/PhD on grounds that research is so frustrating that at the end of the day all I want to do is cut someone open.

you do know that when you apply to an md/phd program, the md trumps the phd... in that you'll have to gain acceptance to med school... meaning that you'll have to take the mcat. and surgeons don't get much time in lab...from my understanding of how md/phd grants work. i'm sorry the research isn't going smoothly, but that's just the way it is. i spent one summer trying to make a mutant bacteria... it took nearly the whole 10 weeks for me to make the mutant, such that i only had 2 days to do functional assays to actually get any real data before i had to present it. so i understand your pain. but it makes it that much sweeter when you get something =) i promise it's worth it. there's nothing like seeing a band where you want one to be... or seeing that your mutant bacteria really are mutants and can't sense oxygen properly. and just think.. one day you'll be the one calling the shots and making pre-meds freak out. that's the day i live for =P

I'd heard as such. Plus I keep reminding myself that the research lifestyle is a lot more loose and flexible. Given, most of the PhD's I see are always busy, I got a feeling that's sort of how they want it to be. I think teaching at Centre would still be the ultimate for me. Nice town, laid back, decent pay. Good stuff. Plus you get access to lots of chemical stuff. 37% HCl smells tickly.

Plus I love the look everyone gives you when you talk about how cute the lab animals are and then meantion how you kill them, cut off the head, and harvest the organs or leave the bodies in a deep freezer. Ah the joy of blood and guts physiology.

actually... my dream job is to teach at centre, methinks. =) much as i think kentucky is a silly state, i'd prefer to stay there.. just cause... well... i haven't experienced the west coast yet, but i didn't like what i saw of california, but then i didn't really see much of california... but i love kentucky... there's something about tennessee that makes me miss home.. i say that now, but in 20 years when i'm finished with my phd, we'll see how i feel then.

you shouldn't inhale hcl... it may be bad for you... you know.. chlorine gas and all that... i believe they called it nerve gas in world war 1.
