Long time no see! And it's very good to see you posting, too!

I loved X-Men long ago, and in a lot of ways, the movie is more true to the stories I loved than the comics have been in the last twenty years. Scary, but true. The pacing on the movie was off, though, and could have easily stood at least another half an hour of additional character development and a slightly slower plot arc. The moral ambiguity with Charles & Magneto should have had a lot more play, too. Magneto's the "bad guy", but neither of them are black and white. Magneto does terrible things for understandable reasons. And so does Charles. Where's the difference? That should have come into it more, and didn't. It was a flawed movie, but it was a good one.

And I can't wait for Snakes on a Plane! I picked up on the whole thing back in January or so, so I've been watching the phenomenon develop. You don't need to advertise a movie like that!

Man, I love it when I actually get references.

I saw X3 as well, but I guess I have to admit liking it a lot less than you. Yeah, there were interesting things in there (as you said, Rebecca Romijn), but the script suffered from serious bloating. I know, as an ensemble piece, it is required to some extent to involve all the characters and give them all decent screen time, but this didn't seem to have any focus at all. Really, do we need the eye-rolling subplot surrounding Seagull Boy? From what I could tell, it added nothing to the movie. Also, bits like the romance between Mr. Freeze and his girlfriend who can't touch him (*MC Hammer plays in the background*), which admittedly was carried through from the much better second movie, seemed to clutter the screen without advancing the plot or even being too interesting. ALSO, it's kind of a big gripe with me that I found myself agreeing with the people who were supposed to be the bad guys. Isn't that, like, a bad thing when that happens ( ... )
