Sabrina 1993- 2008
I had kept putting this announcement off, thinking that I needed to post a picture with it...and I will post one, but I really felt the need to finally post something about her.
Sabrina had been diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure in December 2006.
In April 2008 things had gotten really bad. I was able to deal with her vomiting, but she was really not getting enough nutrition. Over the course of the year and half, she had lost 5 lbs off of her small 11 lb body. The week of April 15th she was not moving around much and I took her to the vet to see if some intensive fluids would help. But no.
After a day and half, the doctors told me that she was not improving and there was not much else to be done for her. The only thing that would be fair to her was to let her go.
It was the hardest thing I have ever done. And I still feel sick with grief thinking of her and that moment. I wanted to run away from it, but I knew that she deserved what little comfort I could give her. So small compared to what she had given me all those years.
Sabrina was the first cat I owned as an adult. She was very friendly (to humans!) and was a very good big sister to Sierra.
She was the sweetest cat.
