Once Ray and Constable Fraser had departed she was, in fact, alone with Ray. Should she just do this fast and hopefully a little less painfully, or just see where casual conversation takes them? The latter was more like it, she didn't have the mind to blurt things out ( Read more... )

"I been good. Workin' a lot, y'know how it goes in the Windy City," he said with a bit of a shrug. There was a little voice inside that was telling him to just spit it out. To just say, 'Stella, the reason I came all the way to freaking Florida was to tell you I'm in love with Benton Fraser and we're gonna live happily ever after in Chicago or Inuvik or wherever the fuck he wants me to go.' but he didn't.

He just smiled and shifted and said, "Yeah, well, I'm here for the sun, ain't I?"

She shrugged back and nodded her head sideways. "Can I get you something to drink?" It was easier to be a hostess than just get to the issues at hand.
