Christmas this year was sweet, snowless and a little bit sad. I've always loved going to our Catholic church on Christmas because the songs and incense always created an emotionally charged timewarp, taking me all the way back to my own begining. I think crochet is easier to grasp than knitting because there's only one hook to worry about, so you should be fine.

I might be biased, though, because I'm a crochet person.

great goals, em :) i've been phasing meat out and it's much easier than expected. i'm beef free for... almost 4 months now.

and i love your goal of the vacation w/o phones, computers, etc.... "unplug and unwind" that'd be a great headline for one of your pieces! :):):)
