btw how did you link to other LJ accounts but use their real name instead of their LJ name? I'm really bad at LJ coding lol

Aha, it's fine. If you're in visual editor mode, simply click the add username button like you usually would and then type out the username. Once it's typed and on your page, simply click it again and the pop-up should come up. Type in the name you want to use in your 'alt-text' box.
