Part 1, Reflection:

In “The Boat” by Alistair MacLeod, the Author used a fair amount of intertextuality to describe his mother, father and his death. The author compared his mothers physical looks to Eustacia Vye, “she was tall, dark and powerfully energetic”. I like your thought of including the other literature as a way to honour his father what his true desires were. I am not sure, but I perceived metafiction as a way that reminds the reader that they are reading a story either by having a character that is writing a story or the narrator trying to communicate with the reader.

I like how you talked about meta fiction and The never ending story! Good one!

I wonder if his father died for his love of literature... or because he devoted his life to his children who were growing up...it seems that something dies in these literature stories just like the Father did...
