There's a continuing argument around the use of HDR images. Purists proclaim that they're not "pure" pictures. They're not a realistic portrayal of the world, not what the human eye would see

I think HDR photos can be lovely but yes, they're more art than journalistic reality.
Photographers have been tweaking their photos since the technology was created. We're always looking for ways to improve, enhance. When I scrapbook I almost always make adjustments to my photos - saturation, colorization, cropping. It all depends on the mood I'm trying to achieve.
I'm relentless about tweaking portraits, of myself or anyone else. One of the great things about being a photographer is that you usually have control over the pics of yourself. :) It's rare that I'm in a pic I don't have control over--even if I didn't take it, it's often taken with my camera
