Pick-a-Potter book meme

Jun 18, 2010 09:37

Same meme as yesterday, only this one I made all Harry Potter. Pretty fun, actually, except where you see a strikethrough, is where I had to modify the question a little to make it fit.

Pick-a-Potter!

1) Best book you read last year

I think last year I only read Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows and I like the last one better so…Deathly Hallows.

2) A book that you’ve read more than 3 times

I think the only one I haven’t read more than 3 times is Order of the Phoenix.

3) Your favorite series storyline

I’m totally going to surprise you, Meagan, but as I’ve grown, I'm kind of into Ron/Hermione. I really love how Ron gets all jealous about Hermione having a thing for Viktor. Cracks me up.

4) Favorite book of your favorite series

I’ve always had a soft spot for Prisoner of Azkaban because that was the last one I hid from my family while reading. I remember sitting in my bathroom and being totally blindsided that Lupin’s a werewolf and texting Nicole all “OMG HE’S A WEREWOLF!” Plus I felt like it’s the book that made the series go from being about Harry to being about Harry vs. Voldemort. Even though Voldemort’s not in it, Pettigrew escapes, and he goes and finds Voldemort, etc. etc. etc.

5) A book that makes you happy

Aw, I love Deathly Hallows. It makes me cry, yeah, but it makes me happy too.

6) A book that makes you sad
I had a hard time reading Half-Blood Prince because I knew Dumbledore died, so I got really depressed about halfway through and had to put it down for a few weeks. But Deathly Hallows takes the cake. Dobby, Fred, "The Forest Again" chapter I sobbed the whole way through. "Does it hurt?" *sob*

7) Most underrated book

I think one of them gets a bad rap, but I can’t remember which, but whichever it was, it probably was underrated. I want to say Chamber of Secrets is the one I’m talking about.

8) Most overrated book

Totally Order of the Phoenix. It’s my least favorite book (but ironically, one of my favorite movies).

9) A book you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving

Uh, the first one, duh. I started reading them because I wanted to see Goblet of Fire but I didn’t want it to be like when I saw Chamber of Secrets and didn’t know anything about it. I wanted to see the movie knowing what was going on.

10) Favorite classic book

I don’t think the whole series can be considered a classic, because the last one only came out 3 years ago. The only one I really consider any sort of a classic is the first one (and even that I think is stretching it; not because of the quality, but becuase I consider a classic being out at least 20 years and it's only been 13-15). So, Sorcerer’s Stone.

11) A book you hated

Order of the Phoenix. It’s the only one I haven’t read more than once. I’ve tried, but I get really pissed at everyone (especially PMS-y Harry and his CAPSLOCK OF RAGE!!!!!!) and I end up only reading the parts with Luna.

12) A book you used to love but don’t anymore

Hmm…I’m not a huge fan of Goblet of Fire. I’ve read it a few times, but I get bored with it sometimes. I think it’s because it’s the first long book so my attention span isn’t quite where it should be.

13) Your favorite writer

Um…duh.

14) Favorite book of your favorite writer

I think I addressed my soft spot for Prisoner of Azkaban.

15) Favorite male character

I heart Fred Weasley. Fred! *sob*

16) Favorite female character

My answer was originally “Um duh, Hermione” but I mentioned Luna earlier and I really like Luna. And I kind of enjoy book Ginny. Not a big fan of movie Ginny, but book Ginny’s totally kick-ass.

17) Favorite quote from your favorite book

I"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU B*TCH!"

18) A book that disappointed you

Order of the Phoenix. I’m pretty sure I addressed my issues with it already. J

19) Favorite book turned into a movie

I’ll answer this two different ways: movie adaptation that’s truest to the book, and favorite movie of the series when you don’t compare it to the book. And my answers are, in order, Sorcerer’s Stone and Order of the Phoenix.

20) Favorite romance book ship

We know my history with being a Harry/Hermione shipper, but I’ve come to terms with how it turns out, and I do enjoy Ron/Hermione now. Although I think Luna would have been good with just about everyone. Luna and Neville would have been cute, Luna and Ron would have been cute. My dream pairings are Harry/Hermione, Neville/Ginny, Ron/Luna. But that’s okay. I’m over it.

21) Favorite book from your childhood

Well, I didn’t start reading them until I was 21, so I can’t answer this question.

22) Favorite book you own

Well, I own all of them, but since I have 2 copies of Deathly Hallows, I’m going with that one.

23) A book you wanted to read for a long time but still haven’t

I haven’t read all of the Tales of Beedle the Bard yet.

24) A book that you wish more people would’ve read

Um…all of them?

25) A character who you can relate to the most

This one’s tough, because I think I’m most like Ron or Ginny (I like to think I’m kick-ass like Ginny) but I think I relate most to…ah heck I don’t know. Saying Hermione is so cliché but I can’t think of anyone else. My brain is fried.

26) A book that changed your opinion about something

Well, the first one, obviously, because it changed my opinion about Harry Potter. And, I like to say, my life. J

27) The most surprising plot twist or ending

So many to choose from…Snape! Fred! Deathly Hallow's "King’s Cross" chapter! Lupin is a werewolf! (That was the first one that threw me for a loop.) I’m going to go with the one that almost was but ended up not being: JK Rowling was originally going to kill Mr. Weasley. Gasp!

28) Favorite title

I’m partial to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, because I read a parody that calls it the “goblet of FI-YAH!” so that’s how I say it.

29) A book everyone hated but you liked

I think I remember that Chamber of Secrets seems to be the one people don’t usually like as much, and I enjoyed it.

30) Your favorite book of all time

Deathly Hallows for various reasons. It introduces new mysteries (see: the title) and yet wraps everything up. I’m still not sure if the epilogue was completely necessary. It was fun, but I kind of like where the book ended without the epilogue. Plus, I sobbed uncontrollably no less than 8 times (only a slight exaggeration; I think it was 4 or 5).
