Things I learned during my second half-marathon

  1. Eat before you race, stupid. One banana is NOT enough to get through 13.1 miles.
  2. Being hit on by another runner late in the race is a nice ego boost, and can make you realize you have it in you to finish.
  3. Whenever someone cheering on the sidelines hollers, "You're almost there!" it is a dirty lie.

Another common lie I hear is "you're looking good!"

But since you were hit on, it must be that you REALLY WERE still looking good! Congratulations.

Haha! The "Damn, girl, you look good!" came from a guy who was passing me, which makes sense, I guess. I think my legs and butt in back probably looked a LOT better at that point than my sweaty face and straggly hair in front!
