Saturday I made my first little foray into the wide world of plumbing. The hot water on the sink in the main bathroom wouldn't turn on. I took the handle apart and saw that the teeth in the stem sleeve had been worn down so that they weren't catching the teeth on the stem. So they need to be replaced. Easy. But these aren't standard parts, so

We had a similar "let's have this one small thing in the bathroom fixed...holy shit the entire bathroom needs to be replaced" moment in our old apartment. Not fun! The landlord made an unholy mess of the entire apartment while we were gone, and then jacked up our rent immensely.
