What a wonderful ending to this monumental work. Your vision of the House/Cuddy marriage is inspiring and completely in keeping with the characters, their canon histories, and their aspirations.

I hope you do continue to write stories for House and Cuddy in the sharkverse: they deserve to live on, even if the show itself has dissolved into incoherence and irrelevancy.

Thank you. I'm a little disappointed in the show too, and I'll be majorly disappointed if they do something for shock value again, but I continue to hope that the series finale will tie up a few dropped plot points and loose ends, and show the same House and the same spark that the earlier seasons did.

'Serenely' was one adverb you used. And with a great deal of consternation. House has a unique definition of "happy" --as he said to Wilson in 'The Fix', he's happier when he isn't expecting (something) to make him happy; happy with his unhappiness. He's at peace with the possibility that his future may very well include pain, disability and conflict as permanent features. I think he'd face the inevitability of the amputation just this way -- he does not believe there is such a thing as death with dignity, remember, and while he is all for arguing every possibility and testing every theory, no matter how improbable and reckless and coming up with an alternative whenever possible, even on the show, once he's run out of options, the decision is made and he does not second-guess it ( ... )

I can't believe what an amazing journey this story has been. The final picture of the Trio, shoulder to shoulder, facing the unknowns of House's physical issues and Wilson's fatherhood, but most importantly very together, is just lovely. They're all such screwed up people, and you've made me angry at each of them in turn throughout the series, but if this is the 'bookend' of the sharkverse it's a good place to leave them. I'll re-read obsessively, and try to spot the places you've tweaked. ;)

Of course, it's my hope that there will be more stories to fill in the years between the last entry and Blessings. Of Rachel growing, trips to Costa Rica, etc. And for "House MD" itself, I hope that it ends well and does justice by the show it once was.
Thank you again for the awesome 'verse you created.

I'll probably write some fill-in as season 8 progresses; I owe you a "day in the life" (which given my lack of brevity is likely to become a "week in the life") story and I do want to tackle House and Blythe and his biodad issues, at some point.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

...I've been re-reading this story (and for that matter, your other stories) with so much pleasure.

The scene that pops into my head at odd moments in the day and makes me LAUGH is: “Apprehensive,” Cuddy repeated. “House and Chase are hiding and stealing candidates’ applications from each other, April and Fizzou are quietly hating each other the way only married people are supposed to, Shaeffer is buying a truck, I’m obsessing over ridiculous details, and Wilson is pretending nothing is happening, but Rachel, barely eight years old, is talking through her bad thinks.”

...Thank you again for so much authentic House. You have made choices that are more difficult, and therefore more genuine, than the forumulaic ones made by the writers for the show. I sooo wish that the paid writers would steal one of your story lines!!!

Cuddy is sort of dimly aware, that her aggressive, oppositional math-phobic Rachel may be the only one of all of them who's well-adjusted enough to communicate her problems and talk them out -- with House of all people -- and she's a little awed by that.

I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for reviewing.
