Oh, ouch, poor Cuddy. I know House is feeling like crap and burying his own worry, but these lines:
“Or my life insurance settlement.”
"Just yell at me about what a selfish bastard I am, tell me you wish you didn’t love me, throw all my problems and damages in my face, and sentence me to a million hours of boring paperwork and get it over with, already.”
...have to sting, no matter how used to House's caustic manner she is. And Cuddy turns the tables on him, we know he hates it when she cries.
I sense a welcome coming for Fizzou, and Cuddy's lessons should be fascinating. :)

Oh, House can be vicious when he's scared and in this fic he's very afraid.

House's attempt at Present and Supportive, in the next chapter (finally up) will be, ... awkward. I hope endearingly so.
