So there is still some truth in advertising - this was a larky, fluffy chapter ... and I l-o-v-e-d it!!!!!
I chortled over the agonizing about Rachel - especially her difficulties determining whether it was 'a hill I'm willing to die on' (soooo many memories!).
The hallucination scene was inspired (and, I would stress, much more reminiscent of 'House's Head/Wilson's Heart' than was the series finale). Is symptomology in the dictionary? If not, it should be ;-)
And the interaction between House and Cuddy over the chicken soup warmed the cockles of my heart. I loved it when she said: "When I feel like crap I can keep on keeping on, but when you have the sniffles, I cannot concentrate or give a damn." That...was perfect.
And the last scene, watching Pirates of the Carribean III with Cuddy and Rachel...was *almost* unbearably fluffy...but with just enough fleur de sel in the caramel to make it well worth eating.
...Thank you so much. I'm feeling much more cheerful than I did 30 minutes ago.
This chapter was a long drink of iced tea on a summer's day. Or, in House's case, garlic chicken soup in a Jersey winter.
I haven't watched the finale yet, but from what I've heard, it's pretty much exactly your summation.
I don't really have much of a review, but I just want to say, as you will obviously hear many times, that the thought of House calling Rachel and Lisa his girls makes me a wibbly ball of feelings.
House suffering from man-flu, Cuddy unable to find normality at the hospital without finding House substitutes, Rachel's polite intransigence, result- another wonderful chapter!

House and Cuddy are trying soooo hard.
“I can handle it. I just hate having to weigh every decision, trying to figure out whether it’s a hill I’m willing to die on,” Cuddy confessed.
“Welcome to my world,” he said....and mine.
The bits about Rachel, perfect.
And House's girls :))

Cuddy ordering everyone to drive her crazy in House's absence is really endearing, in an odd sort of way.
Thanks for the update.
