Sugar Blues

I just finished reading Sugar Blues by William Dufty. I was never a big fan of refined sugar, but now I am really pissed off that it is in nearly everything you find on the shelves at the store or in a restaurant. Oooh...thanks for the recommendation. I hate sugar. The past few weeks as my stress level has been going up, I've been eating more of it and have been sorry. I had been sugar-free for almost three months. I'm going back to it! Maybe even starting tomorrow!

And you're right! It is in everything!!! I wish I could help more people understand how awful it is.

I know about that stress - sugar connection. I ate so much sugar after my miscarriage, it was no wonder that my hormones were off the deep end for so long. I was really a mess! Part of that time I was on vacation and found it impossible to follow my usual diet. I have no excuse, though, for all the cookies and chocolate I munched in my own home. Did you know that sugar is so empty of nutrients that it actually robs your body of vitamins in order to process it? Of course, I expect that any day now we will hear that they are adding synthetic vitamins to sugar in order to make it "enriched". Our food supply is scary!
