This makes no sense to me at all. YOU should change to get their support? YOU should go out of your way to convince them that they are wrong? If anything it should be opposite. They should give you thier support just for the fact that you are their daughter.
Don't despair, Stephanie. Your parents, deep down, are probably just frightened. It is something that they have little experience of, and they don't really understand it. Fear of the unknown is extremely common. The time will come when you will have to tell them about yourself; not anytime soon, but when you are ready, you will. And then they will be forced to accept it. It will probably take a while, when this does occur, but eventually they will see, and they will be made to understand.
