I can't really help you, besides to assure you that you did the right thing. If your dog ever got out and made babies, his babies may never have a home and sadly, that's why there are so many animals being put to sleep because too many animals and no owners for them. you did the right thing!
It took Peggy Sue a while before I could trust her not to lick. But eventually she got better and all was well. Even though it's more invasive for a girl dog, I'm still glad I did it. If she ever had puppies, it would be AWFUL with her genes and all that. Plus the cancer thing. I think a week or two of minor discomfort is better than risking that. You did the right thing!

He'll probably still be groggy today, but by Friday he should be good as new. Also, the peeing and restlessness will pass.

And not only could he possibly get out and make baby puppies that would be homeless, but he could also get cancer!
