I'm thrilled this fandom got you writing again. This is amazing. Considering there have only been 4 eps so far, you really have a wonderful grasp of the characters.

I'm waiting impatiently for the next chapter.

Thank you! I'm so pleased that you think the characters seem right. (Of course, it's weird with the Storybrooke!Rum because he's not quite Rumelstiltskin and not quite Mr. Gold -- he's almost an OC, but needs to bear some resemblance to those characters still.)

I am working on the next parts. :) Thank you so much for reading.

I squeed like a tiny schoolgirl when I saw you'd written something. And I was not disappointed. :D Looks like this fandom got the both of us mired in fanfiction again, huh?

And I squeed when I saw you'd reviewed. I hope I continue not to disappoint. I don't think I can live up to soul-twin status when it comes to writing skill, but I'm working at it. ;) It feels good to be writing fanfic -- I haven't been writing enough in general and fanfic is great exercise. There's a helpful nervousness involved with it, knowing that strangers who are already somewhat invested in the story may drop in and check it out. (Btw, I continued editing the crap out of this even after posting so it might be noticeably different from when you read it. Doesn't merit a re-read, necessarily, but yeah. I should probably resist posting immediately when I think I'm finished.)

Thanks for reading! :)

Oh, I reread it. Several times. Every time I saw it posted in a different place, I ended up reading it again.

(SOUL TWINS LOL)

Wow, this is pretty neat! I like your alternate take on things and I'd be happy to see more from this world. ^_^

I really like this because the Queen has power. I mean, there's points for the way canon goes, because it suggests maybe she's not the Big Bad, maybe they won't kill her to break the curse, since it was all Rumpelstiltskin. But at the same time, it takes away from her power that he's pulling the strings. And I adore the way you write her, so badass and confident and awesome.

Like this?

“You had better hope it does," she said, voice low, with all the weight of an official decree. "Because you are going to suffer in this new world of mine as much as any of them. I’ll not help you.”

LOVE. Now I wish the show had gone this way, because that confidence and determination is a really cool flipped version of that scene where she's the supplicant and he's the one in control.

Yay, thank you so much for the feedback! :D

This idea started because I was thinking about how we get to see all the characters as altered, negatively exaggerated or diminished versions of themselves in Storybrooke, except for Regina and Rumpelstiltskin. (And arguably some other minor characters who weren't clear-cut heroes/heroines in the fairy-tale world.) Mr. Gold is like this smoothed-out, cleaned-up, successful and no-longer-manic Rumpelstiltskin. So I started wondering what Rumpelstiltskin would look like in Storybrooke without the queen's protection ( ... )

This is fun! I guess the Queen kept her promise. Lol! Now he's just a small-time-crook!
